‘Propaganda to harm reputation’: AAP’s Raghav Chadha denies being named in ED chargesheet in Delhi liquor policy case

AAP Senior Leader And Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha.

The AAP leader's reaction came after media reports said the ED has named him and fellow leader Sanjay Singh in its chargesheet filed in the Delhi excise policy case.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha on Tuesday denied reports that he has been named in a supplementary chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the probe into the Delhi excise policy case as he claimed it to be a part of “malicious propaganda to harm his reputation”.

Chadha has not been named as an accused in the case that has gripped the AAP-led Delhi government after the arrest of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on February 26, news agency PTI reported.

The Rajya Sabha denied the commission of any offence in any connection with the case.

“News articles/reportage stating that I have been named as an accused in a complaint filed by the enforcement directorate are factually wrong, incorrect and appears to be part of a malicious propaganda to harm my reputation and credibility,” Chadha said in a statement.

He said he has not been named an accused or even a suspect in any of the complaints filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

“There are no allegations whatsoever against me in the said complaints. It appears that in the complaint, my name is mentioned as an attendee to some meetings though the basis for making such an allegation is not clear. I vehemently and unequivocally deny the commission of any alleged offence in any manner, in relation to the said meeting or otherwise,” he added.

Chadha also threatened to take legal action against any incorrect reporting in this connection.

As per a PTI report, the ED has mentioned the names of AAP leaders Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh as part of a statement recorded of former deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s secretary C Arvind during questioning in the case.

The allegations have been made by the central agency in the chargesheet filed in its money laundering probe into the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy 2021-22, the report said.
